Super cool game, love the strategy elements!
YOOOOO, this is so cool!
I really like the goal of the game tbh
Thanks, mate appreciate it, in future will be more, stay tuned!
hi, just to let you know, you can now approve of your game on ultra BUNDLE BUNDLE BUNDLE here: https://itch.io/b/2568/ultra-bundle-bundle-bundle
done mate
I completed the tutorial and began claiming land at random until I observed how the AI behaves. It expands rapidly, and after 12 turns, I inevitably lose. On my second attempt, I adopted the AI's tactics and developed more or less equally to the bots. Honestly, I enjoy when AI is competitive in strategy games, but I think there should be different difficulty levels added. Overall, the game is straightforward and well-made.
Thanks for the comment we will continue work on this game
I have no idea of how to play. I just put the flag around a few times because I couldn't seem to build anything else until I finally managed to accidentally lay down a couple of Barracks, and by then I was at $0 and could do nothing. Shouldn't that sort of scenario be prevented from happening? Could you add a tutorial?
Yes we are planning to add tutorial for now we are working on other updates, but tutorial will be soon, right now i can write you down what you need to do, put flags on resources(stuff like trees, mountains and oil), and they make you profits after you gain you can build certain buildings over them, goal of the game is to make as much profit as possible
Also about loosing, if you make bad decisions game won't give you second chance so its kinda like roguelike
I just downloaded it and tried it out. Honestly I think it needs a fair amount of work. The idea is solid, but it seems way too rough to pay for right now.
On my first try I couldn't even figure out what I was doing and ended up giving up. I didn't realize that I had a starting tile. I think this was exacerbated by the camera starting no where near my starting title and having no tool-tips.
On my second try I built a barracks and sawmill, but didn't make any money from it while my opponents were expanding like crazy, so ended up having to quit on my 3rd turn.
On my third try I was able to build 2 barracks, 3 sawmills, and 2 mines, but I really didn't get what was going on, the amount of workers made no sense to me (it jumped from something like 15/5 to 5/7. I stopped making money on somewhere around my 10th turn. I'm fairly certain the AI cheats, as they were flagging huge chunks of land every turn, even though they had minimal buildings.
4. Decided to log everything on my 4th turn...
Turn 1 - I start next to a rock, so build a Barracks and Mine, workers shows 10/2 (maybe it's the amount of workers available vs the amount of buildings?), I have $0 left.
Turn 2 - $18 (Mine + $18, Barracks - $5, when is the Barracks maintenance charged?), workers shows 5/2 (what happened to the other 5). Can only afford 1 flag. $8 left.
Turn 3 - $21 ($18 + Mine = 36, why did I lose $15? Am I being charged 3 times for the barracks, now?). Workers now shows 10/2 (no idea). I build 2 flags. $1 left.
Turn 4 - $29 ($1 + Mine = $19, where did the extra $10 come from?). Workers back to 5/2 (doesn't make any sense to me). I build 1 Sawmill. $9 left.
Turn 5 - $34 ($9 + Mine + Sawmill = $34, that's the first time the math has made sense to me). Workers shows 10/3 (so pretty sure the 2nd number is buildings, but no idea how the math is working for the first number). Build a sawmill and a flag. $4 remaining.
Turn 6 - $36 (the math is working again!). Workers at 5/4. So it bounces between 10 and 5 every turn, but why? I build 3 flags. $6 left... Decided to check out my opponents (forgot about them). Dark Green - Flagged a bunch of rocks and oil 24 flags built, with no buildings. Light Green - 31 flags built, 2 mines, claimed 6 oil. Other Green - 31 flags built, 1 sawmill. Blue - 34 flags built, 1 sawmill, 1 mine.
Turn 7 - $43 ($6 + Mine + Sawmill(x2) = $38, where's the extra $5 coming from?). Workers 10/4. Nothing built. Dark Green built 2 sawmills. Light Green - built 2 mines. Other Green - another mine built. Blue - built 1 sawmill and 1 mine... All opponents also appear to have flagged more stuff... Where are they getting the money?
Turn 8 - $80 (I earned $37?). Workers 10/4 (so workers didn't go down when I didn't build anything maybe that's what causes it to fluctuate? Built 1 mine, 3 flags. $0 left. Opponents, is too much for me to track every turn, I'll check back in later.
Turn 9 - $53 (As far as I can tell I should've made $50, not sure where the extra $3 is from). Workers 5/6, so I'm guessing workers drops by 5 any time you build anything, doesn't make sense to me. 2 sawmills built, 1 flag. $3 left. 2 Opponents are almost on top of me, I'll check at the end of next turn.
Turn 10 - $10 (Looks about like what happened to me last game, how did I only make $7?). Workers 5/8. Nothing built. $10 left. I'm now boxed in on 2 sides. Dark Green - 43 flags, 5 sawmills, 1 mine. Light Green - 90 flags (I could be off by a few), 4 barracks, 4 sawmills, 7 mine. Other Green - 79 flags, 1 barracks, 3 sawmills, 3 mines. Blue - 70 flags, 1 barracks, 2 saw mill, 4 mines... For comparison I'm at: 15 flags, 1 barracks, 4 sawmills, and 2 mines. Unless I assume I must be missing a very big mechanic there is no way I could have 5 times the amount of flags I have right now.
5. Figured out that flags give you money. So I cut off about 1/3rd of the map from my opponents as quickly as I could. Once I had it blocked off I started building on my resources making sure I built a barracks for every 5 workers needed. I ended with 38 buildings and $108. I have no idea what any of that means or how I did since the Game Over screen provides no information.
Ultimately, I think there are 2 major issues...
Not enough information. How is money calculated, how are workers calculated, how am I doing vs opponents, etc.
What is the end goal? If I get no information about how/what I'm doing what is driving me to play?
Additionally (minor issues, but things that stood out to me)...
It seems incredibly bare bones.
Resolution has multiples of every resolution listed. It's also possible to switch to resolutions that make the game unreadable.
Turn 11 - $57 (I'd expect to have earned $64, but made $47?). Workers 10/8. 1 mine built. $7 left.
*It took around a full minute to load to Turn 12, that feels pretty long, and makes me think that more opponents would be frustratingly slow.
Turn 12 - $87 (I expected to make $82, but got $80). Workers at 10/11 (so now I have no theory as to what goes into the first number). Built 4 flags, 1 saw mill. $14 left.
*It took 15seconds in between 12 and 13, so confused about what made the previous load take so long.
Turn 13 - $80 (I'm not worried about calculations any more). I'm almost boxed in on every side... I might be able to get to 1 tree if I can build something like 25 flags before either opponent completely boxes me in or takes the tree. 8 flags built. $0 left.
Turn 14 - $39(???). They got the tree I was headed for. There's nothing for me to accomplish, so I'm just going to run out the clock now.
Last Turn - $370.
Game Over - $447. I have no idea what the outcome is, the screen just says Game Over with Restart and Exit?
hey bundle is ready to be approved: https://itch.io/b/2512/ultimate-elite-bundle-complete-edition thanks for joining glad to have you on board, and please remember you need to be logged in to appprove, if you got any qustions feel free to ask
Very Cool! The mechanics are solid! I hope the multiplayer will come soon! With time and polishing it will assume!
You really have to think ahead with the bots (super aggressive in hard difficulty) and plan your resources!
Thanks yes we are planning to make co-op regime
Cool! I love turn-based games!
Made a video
Thanks for the review
Are you up for a co-op bundle to join?
